In this political cartoon, we have an elephant that's suppose to represent the Republican Party. The cartoon is titled the GOP separates.This we could figure out by just looking at the cartoon itself. The elephant in the cartoon is what seems to be like a robot that fell apart. The pieces of the robot are still fairly close to each other however they are not connected, which clearly indicates that it is broken. The elephant is also stating "we're the party that will put Ameerica together."
This cartoon is also extremely satirical for various reasons. The first satirical thing is that it represents something that's broken attempting to put together other things. How exactly is the GOP suppose to put America together, when they are extremely separated themselves. Although I have not live enough elections to really serve as the best critic, I know enough to notice that the GOP is flawed for having Candidates with perspective that are so different. You have Santorum who is an extreme conservative. Romney who is a rather fair moderate. Ron Paul who ca easily be classified as an Independent. And lastly but not least Gingrich who to me is just...just there to be honest. The second is the fact that its a robot. A robot can easily represent something not capable of having feelings. The Republicans as we know are extremely conservative on social issues, they are often disfavored by the working class along with people that are living in a moderate form of poverty. The robot can easily symbolize how they are hardhearted.
