Political Cartoon 6

This political cartoon is one that deals with an issue that is on an international scale. As we know, there has been an ongoing controversy with President Obama and the Israel-Palestine issue. President Obama is standing next to Benjamin Netanyahu in the cartoon. Obama looks very merry and friendly. Too be honest he looks a bit untrustworthy. Benjamin who is the Prime Minister of Israel looks at Obama in an extremely suspicious way as Obama pats his back and states "don't worry BIBI- I've got your back."  On the right side of the cartoon we see that from the back, Obama wasn't actually just tapping BIBI's back. On the contrary he was taping a note to BIBI's back with the words KICK ME written on it.
This cartoon is significant for many reasons. I believe the cartoonist is trying to send a message about Obama's actions in the Palestinian-Israel issue. Many believe that Obama is leaning towards the Palestinian side and that his statements to Benjamin are all BS. Obviously the cartoonist also shares those beliefs. The way Obama is depicted, he is portrayed as a backstabber. One who says one thing but who's actions speak otherwise when it comes to this particular issue. I also find it interesting that Obama is suppose to represent the Unites States but he lacks things such as a flag or a pin one would expect to see on a president. Benjamin clearly has something representing Israel. This pushes me to believe that maybe the cartoonist wanted the audience to feel that it is Obama's decision that classifies him as a "backstabber" and not a decision that the US in general should be associated with.
